What is MCP (Model Context Protocol)?
MCP is an open protocol for connecting an AI model to the tools, data and services it needs in order to act, instead of requiring a custom integration for every model and tool combination. An MCP server describes what a specific tool can do, such as searching a knowledge base, querying a database, sending a message or looking up a record, in a form any AI agent that speaks the protocol can use. For a business, the practical effect is that connecting an agent to a new capability means adding a server that speaks MCP, not commissioning a bespoke integration for every tool an agent needs to reach.
Bring your own MCP server
Add a custom MCP server and Commt walks it through verification before your agents can use it. It runs the server in its own isolated environment and checks it for security issues. If a vulnerability is found, you're warned, and the server isn't made available until the issue is addressed. If nothing is found, you're told it's ready to use.
